“This is one of the best day camps my kids have EVER done. (They were daycare babies that are now in middle and high school, so there have been a lot of summers and a lot of camps.) It’s reasonably priced, the hours are amenable to working parents, and the kids have a lot of fun while learning. Seriously, it’s really delightful and well-organized. Also, I love how diverse the camp is in terms of race and gender. It’s a real selling point and not something I see at a lot of the camps my kids have done (we live in Culver City so our school is really diverse but our neighborhood isn’t so much). The counselors are really devoted and well-suited to the task. Love it!”
“I like how they were always ready and available to guide the students. I also liked how they wanted the class to focus and stay on track so we could have the best education.”
“I’m happy to send my children to CS@SC – it is important to me that they get the opportunity to learn skills that are not always taught in their regular public school, and I appreciate the additional experience they get being on a college campus – it helps bring the abstract concept of “college” to life. My children participated in virtual camp during the pandemic and I saw firsthand how the lessons are designed to be developmentally appropriate. My kids always have fun and I can see that the counselors are engaging and develop good relationships with the students.”
“My TA was very patient. Simplifies much of the code so that the class can easily understand. Even though I already understood most of the topics, she is able to help me with different aspects of those codes.”
“I would like my TA to know that she was amazing. We always played icebreakers before every class and at the end of class. She always made our labs and codes really fun! She made everything very interesting and helped me learned a lot! Thank you for being my teacher!”
“Maria T. was a great TA. Malakai enjoyed his first CS class and we are looking forward to more classes in the future. The online platform is great as we do not live in California and the content was just enough to challenge Malakai yet fun and enjoyable as an elective. Thank you!”
“I really enjoyed this class. I think my TA did a good job at creating a friendly environment. Every class was very fun and I felt like I learned a lot. I think one of my favorite activities was when we would do quizzes in groups.”
“It’s a good training for logical thinking. They are challenged to figure do problem solving.”
“I really appreciated the progress report mid-way through the two-week course. It helps me understand how my child is doing and if any additional help is needed. I really appreciate the patient TAs that my daughter has gotten all throughout this summer. This is a great program to introduce young children to coding, and I really appreciate the work you’re doing. We hope to see you in the fall or next summer!”
“Our child’s instructor, Kaley Tien, was instrumental in our child’s success through the program. Her patience and ability to teach complicated concepts to the students, whilst still making it fun and enjoyable is a huge reason why our child would like to continue on his computer science journey and learn more. I would highly recommend Ms. Tien, and the entire program, to other parents and students! Thank you all so much!”
“This camp is a fun and engaging way to enter the world of computer science through a highly interactive and personalized experience. I wish I had a camp like this when I was younger!”
“CS@SC provided my daughter with a wonderful learning experience. By the end of the camp, she had not only made some awesome games in Scratch, but also quite a few new friends.”
